About us

Back to Life Association is a community-based organization committed to restoring hope, dignity, and opportunity for vulnerable children and families. We work especially with children living around the Mubone dumpsite, providing practical support that helps them move toward a safer and more hopeful future. Through daily and weekend feeding programs, accomodation, medical checkups, hygiene support, school materials, clothing, and assistance to vulnerable families, we respond to both immediate needs and long-term wellbeing. Through this work, 123 children have been lifted from life on the dumpsite, provided with regular meals, enrolled in school, and supported with their essential needs. We also continue to feed around 400 children still living on the dumpsite every weekend, offering care, encouragement, and hope for a better future. Women and communities are also supported

Our Work

We are a Christian charity operating in Burundi, starting from the main garbage dump of Bujumbura. We rescue children living in extreme poverty, send them to school, and empower their families through training and support.

Founded by Sylvestre Havyarimana in collaboration with the Pentecostal Church in Russia, Back To Life Association continues to transform despair into hope — one child, one family at a time.

About Sylvestre

Sylvestre Havyarimana – Founder

Born in 1984 in Musaga, Burundi, Sylvestre lost his father during the civil war in 1996. This tragedy deeply marked him and became the driving force behind his mission to help children living in extreme poverty.

From surviving hardship to becoming a beacon of hope, his journey reflects resilience, faith, and an unshakable commitment to giving every child a second chance.
